Forge a Strong Community for Common Progress on a New Journey | Tramy Convenes Forum for Representatives of Employees from Diverse Ethnic Groups

On June 10, Tramy held a forum for employee representatives of various ethnic groups. Zheng Weide, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tramy, attended the meeting. Eighteen employee representatives from the Bai, Dai, Dulong, Hani, Han, Lahu, Manchu, Miao, Tujia, Yi and other ethnic groups gathered together. Participants studied approaches for establishing a model unit for ethnic unity and progress, listened to expert interpretations of the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress, and exchanged views on advancing the development of the sense of community for the Chinese nation within enterprises and public institutions.

At the forum, Dang Hongjun, Deputy Director of Tramy’s Ethnic Unity and Progress Creation Office, shared insights gained from his participation in the 2nd Shanghai Special Seminar on Forging a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation held at the Central Institute for Ethnic Minority Cadres. He systematically reviewed the evolution of ethnic work in China and elaborated on the attention paid by successive generations of national leaders to ethnic solidarity and borderland development. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping has issued important instructions on ethnic unity and progress on multiple occasions, expounded the vital importance of fostering the sense of community for the Chinese nation, and pointed out that “forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation serves as the main thread of the Party’s ethnic work in the new era, as well as the main thread governing all work in ethnic regions”. This elevates ethnic work to a strategic priority for the whole Party and the country at large.

The meeting conveyed the legislative background and legal status of the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress, which is scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2026. This law is the only legislation with a preamble enacted since the 18th CPC National Congress. For the first time in legal form, it clarifies the statutory responsibilities of state organs, local government departments, enterprises and public institutions. It marks that forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation has become a statutory obligation for government departments and enterprises, with ethnic solidarity incorporated as a mandatory assessment indicator in the evaluation of civilized entities and corporate social responsibility. Drawing on both positive and negative domestic and international experiences in ethnic work, the forum stressed that ethnic unity is the lifeline of social stability. Enterprises in mixed ethnic settlement areas must regularly facilitate extensive communication, comprehensive exchanges and in-depth integration among all ethnic communities.

Tramy currently employs more than 280 staff members covering 26 ethnic minority groups. To help these employees settle down and pursue stable careers in Shanghai, the Party Committee has formulated three targeted implementation measures. First, incorporate the Five Hearts Cohesion working mechanism into the rules of the Party Committee, and deeply integrate ethnic care services and multi-cultural integration into daily operation and management. Second, improve incentive mechanisms for cultivating ethnic minority talents and supporting borderland development. Outstanding professional backbones will be selectively dispatched to their hometown regions to participate in core businesses including production base operation, logistics distribution and store management. Third, continuously polish the corporate ethnic unity brand One Big Tramy Family, summarize practical experience, and build a replicable and promotable model for private enterprises advancing ethnic unity and progress.

Previously, Tramy’s case Setting a Benchmark for Ethnic Unity and Progress through the “One Big Tramy Family” Initiative was selected as one of the Excellent Cases of National Private Enterprise Social Responsibility 2025, making Tramy one of only three Shanghai-based private enterprises to receive this honor. At present, Tramy is a key incubated unit for national ethnic unity and progress demonstration construction. In July 2024, the Golden Pomegranate Committee Studio under the Pudong New Area Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference paid a special visit to Tramy to investigate and guide the construction of ethnic unity and progress initiatives.

Ethnic employee representatives stated that the forum helped them clearly understand the legal obligations and practical requirements of ethnic solidarity work for private enterprises. Moving forward, they will voluntarily act as legal advocates for ethnic unity, promoters of cross-ethnic communication and integration, and bridges linking industrial prosperity with people’s wellbeing in border areas. Taking this forum as a new starting point, Tramy will follow legal guidance and fulfill original aspirations with tangible actions, further burnish the One Big Tramy Family brand, forge a tangible, perceptible and effective sense of community for the Chinese nation, and fuel the high-quality development of Tramy through the joint efforts of employees of all ethnic groups.
